A comfortable, smooth, reasonable, democratic unfreedom prevails in advanced industrial civilization.
The most effective form of warfare against liberation is the implanting of material and intelectual needs that perpetuate obsolete forms of struggle for existance: A life of toil, fear and stupefying work where it is no longer a necessity.
Because of its productivity and efficiency, and because of its capacity to increase and spread comfort, the intelectual and emotional refusal to go along appears neurotic and impotent. Eventually, the individuals identify themselves with the existance imposed upon them, losing their inner dimension.
The products indoctrinate and manipulate. The indoctrination becomes a way of life: A good way of life, much better than before.
